Psychotherapy Sessions - Video OR Telephone
Psychotherapy occurs when the Registered Psychotherapist (RP)/Registered Social Worker (RSW) and client enter into a psychotherapeutic relationship where both work together to bring about positive change in the client’s thinking, feeling, behaviour and social functioning. Individuals usually seek psychotherapy when they have thoughts, feelings, moods and behaviours that are adversely affecting their day-to-day lives, relationships and the ability to enjoy life. Most insurance companies provide coverage for RSW's.
Our therapists have undergraduate degrees as well as graduate, master level degrees in the areas of counselling, mental health and human development. They also have undergone extensive training in various therapeutic approaches, including:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
- Internal Family Systems
- Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy
- Feminist Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
- Harm reduction
- Anti-oppressive
- Trauma informed
Indigenous Therapy Services:
At COCA Psychotherapy we are passionate about working with Indigenous communities.
We recognize, as mental health experts, the impact that colonization and genocide have had on all aspects of life, including but not limited to mental, emotional, and spiritual parts, leading often to intergenerational trauma. The injustice faced by Indigenous communities is not only historical, but currently continues and needs to be addressed appropriately.
At our clinic, we are able to take action by supporting Indigenous communities through providing free mental health support via the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). If you are a registered member of a First Nation connect with us today and we can guide you through the process.
